Checkmate offers a fresh take on classic chess by challenging you to play as Black with the goal of checkmating the White king. The game presents 500 distinct boards, each requiring a unique strategy to overcome. While standard chess rules generally apply, some variations like the possible absence of the Black king and reversed board orientation add new layers to puzzle-solving. With 24 achievements to unlock, players can test their tactical thinking and adaptability across diverse chess puzzles. Whether you’re an experienced chess player or exploring strategic board games for the first time, Checkmate provides a thoughtful challenge that combines familiar mechanics with inventive scenarios.

How to Play

Standard chess rules apply. However, the following exceptions exist:
- The player is Black and must checkmate the White king.
- The Black king may or may not be present.
- Black moves from bottom to top, and White moves from top to bottom (this is important due to the pawns).
